‘Taming Historical Preservation’ - NYTimes

‘today, decisions about urban development are frequently framed as what and what not to preserve, with little sense of how those decisions affect the surrounding neighborhood.’

Why buy your clothes distressed..

..when you can have them deconstructed, abused, then reconstructed?

.

Jessie is wearing a shirt I cut up to use as a cover for a stencil, sprayed over it every which way in the process, then saw that the resulting pattern was pretty great. I put the shirt back together, and gave it to him. Jesse and Max (to the left in the above photo) are hitchhiking around the country after graduating from college two weeks ago. They’ve been hanging at my house, being quite delightful guests, and I will miss having them.

This is the first in a series of “deconstructed” shirts. I’m going to rip up clothing, most likely shirts, lend them to a tagger/stenciler/whateverer, then put them back together. Whoever wants one will also get a rad card with a photograph of the stencil/piece in question. Capiche?
